MedGem Vs. BodyGem.  What is the difference?​

 

The Bodygem is considered the fitness model. The MedGem model is the medical model and used by mainly physicians for insurance reimbursement.  Both devices provide the same functionality, accuracy and reliablity.

 

 




 

 

 

What are the requirements for taking an accurate measurement?



  • Do not eat or drink anything for at least 4 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. Water is OK.

  • Do not exercise for at least 4 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.

  • Do not consume caffeine or nutrition supplements for 4 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.

  • Do not use nicotine for 1 hour prior to your schedule appointment.

• Continue to take any prescribed medications.

What is the reimbursment rate?

 

Many payers including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance companies reimburse Indirect Calorimetry for patients with pulmonary, cardiovascular, and metabolic disease. The Medicare reimbursement rate average is $63 in Colorado.   Rates range from $60 - $80 in total (Pt. Co-pay + reimbursement).  CPT Code 94690 (oxygen uptake) is a pulmonary code therefore it is suggested that supporting ICD-9 codes be pulmonary in nature. Are the mouthpieces autoclavable?​

 

It is not made to be used by more than one person and not for autoclaving. The material is not resistant against the high temperature and/or high amount of water and might be deformed/damaged. As a consequence it might not fit well to the device anymore, air escaped through damage or wrong connection and not all the exhaled air is registered by the device.   It is not recommended for sanity reasons and the infection sensors break down after each measurement.

How long does the measurement take?

The measurement takes 5 – 10 minutes, average of 8 minutes.  The patient/client breathes into the device and as soon as it picks up a steady breathing rate, it displays V02 and the RMR.

How long does it take to receive my order?

 

Once the order is submitted, we ship the same day or the next day. With standard shipping, it takes 5-8 business days.  We offer expedited shipping as well.  Please request for a quote.
